Also funny that, due to the cancelled movie, we would have lost on this one.

2.5 years later and Sandman 1 costs the exact same $300.

Just goes to show you never know...

I'd resurrect this as a pick.

Reason:

The movie's been cancelled (at least for now) so a lot of the speculative money has left.

While the book still averages ~$300 in 9.8 ($297 12-month average), you can find it for $225-$250 if you're patient.

But consider that Preacher # 1 is ~$500 in 9.8 (and down from $700 at it's peak earlier this year), I think Sandman's a bargain.

To me, Sandman's always been a more desirable and significant book.

And they _will_ do a movie or miniseries eventually.

If Preacher can hit $700 on the basis of a minor show, Sandman certainly can hit $800-$900.

The Vertigo stuff doesn't interest me for my collecting, but I think you have sound reasoning in your observations.

If everybody here had posted scans about buying the issue, others would visit and feel like they'd missed out. They'd have rushed out and bought a copy.
The value would've increased as a self-fulfilling prophecy.
