I created this , so we can post our picks , discuss and decide

Here´s my first pick

- Sandman 1 -

I already explained why in the Club Investment Idea thread (movie soon), We could get a CGC for $300 and if everything works well , we could sell it for $800 - $1000 usd

Great! to tell you the truth we dont have to much time , if you look at gpa , prices are increasing .
At ebay i can see : one for auction and one direct buy . The auction could end in more $ and the direct buy is in $319 (we could offer him $300 via message)

Another idea is to ask at CGC , i created a thread yesterday

Here´s the link of the direct buy http://www.ebay.com/itm/SANDMAN-1-CGC-9-8-1ST-MORPHEUS-/251465316012?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3a8c8036ac

And here´s the link of the thread at CGC

The issue than is forming the club and getting the finances together immediately.

Who else is in? We have 6 shares and I can afford 1 of them. That leaves 5 other shares open.

Banana

Assuming your each buying a $50 share that leaves 2 more shares open if those two confirm their interest.

In the case that no one else is interested i assume that the share will increase. This time , I can pay 3 shares ($150)

Actually, the way I envisioned it, was that you just buy more shares. So you're saying you will purchase 3 shares if no one else is interested and I will purchase a share so we have $200.

Let's give the others a day to comment and we will see if we can't purchase this book off CGC. Hope

I already have 2 sandman #1 so I will sit this one out.

Isn't $800 a bit high given that very few copper books ever reach this number?
I was thinking $500-600 as the ceiling.

Maybe I can start this whole thing by using my own collection as the "investment vehicle" and show people who it would work? Confused

It's a great idea but many are hesitant to jump in because they have no idea how it works and (perhaps more importantly) they themselves won't have the book in their hands.

But that's the point, you're turning into an investment vehicle and you yourself are removed from the un-decisions of selling that many of us suffer once the comic does go big.

The last auction just ended in less than $300 http://www.ebay.com/itm/SANDMAN-1-89-CGC-9-8-NM-M-Looks-Perfect-White-pgs-/151246966959?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item23370590af&autorefresh=true

I will use this at CGC to get a better price or buy a NM+ raw for much less and try to get a 9.8 i decided to do this by myself and write about it in my blog . In fact i want to compare a bad choice i made some years ago investing in gold and comparing it with comics investment .

If you guys have another pick please let me know !

I'd resurrect this as a pick.

Reason:

The movie's been cancelled (at least for now) so a lot of the speculative money has left.

While the book still averages ~$300 in 9.8 ($297 12-month average), you can find it for $225-$250 if you're patient.

But consider that Preacher # 1 is ~$500 in 9.8 (and down from $700 at it's peak earlier this year), I think Sandman's a bargain.

To me, Sandman's always been a more desirable and significant book.

And they _will_ do a movie or miniseries eventually.

If Preacher can hit $700 on the basis of a minor show, Sandman certainly can hit $800-$900.
