Giant-Sized ASM 4 is the 3rd appearance of the Punisher. It's a solid long-term play (& I bought one this summer) -- def. more key than many of these wicked minor characters.

Remember back in 07 when this comic went gangbuster during the summer? You know what they say, what was once hot and now not, will be hot again.

Thumbs Up

Say what you want, but the first dozen or so Punisher appearances were all really cool stories.

ASM 129, 134-135, Giant-Size 4, 161-162 (w/ Nightcrawler) and then the two magazines: Marvel Presents 2 (1st Origin) and Marvel Super Action 1.

For being a one-note character, his build-up was well-done over the first six years. Then another six years went by before his solo miniseries appeared & made him a superstar.

At one time I had 4 copies of # 135, as you could get raw 7.0-8.5 copies ($100-$110 value) for $60 via eBay on off-nights. This was a decade ago, though. No idea what they sell for now.

Jack Monroe was in Cap #154 I believe. Probably a cameo. I think they killed him with AIDS or something.

Yeah but the Jack Monroe appearance people care about is Cap 282 - when he actually became Nomad.

I wasn't denying he was in CA #153 & 154, just suggesting that the revelation in #155 that he had been the Bucky of the 50s might retroactively make Young Men #24 his first appearance. Strange that he wasn't given a name until DeMatteis and Zeck brought him back in CA #281. Jack was assassinated by the original Bucky as Winter Soldier during Ed Brubaker's run.

not that I think it’s too noteworthy but I think it’s 179-181 Think
I also saw this string on the CGC board and it’s missing some prime Starlin / Warlock and Kane & Thomas Warlock issues (at first glance) I’m okay if those are left off or omitted, they’ll get discovered in the next decade I’m sure Thumbs Up

Captain America became Nomad in #179.
Jack Monroe became Nomad much later... probably #282 as some have mentioned.
Jack Monroe's first appearance in modern continuity was in #154.
He had supposedly been Bucky from the 1950's.

Captain America #179 had Steve Rogers fighting the Golden Archer, who turned out to be Hawkeye, who had disguised himself to convince Steve he could adopt a new identity. Steve became Nomad in Captain America #180. Jack Monroe appeared as Bucky in the final page splash of CA #153. He did indeed adopt the Nomad identity in CA #282.
